I am helping coach a 6 grade team. Many of them are not experienced and don't dribble or shoot well or understand blocking out. I am going to try and start with fundamentals.
1) can you recommend dribbling that gets everyone involved?
2) also a shooting and rebounding drill

What kind of offense do you recommend for youth? Last year they did a 1-4 pick and roll because only one kid could dribble.
They had a terrible time against the press too.
Any good plays would be greatly appreciated. Any help at all. Thanks for your work!

Hey Coach...

Here area a couple good dribbling drill to start with where everyone needs a ball:

Then progress to something like this:

For shooting and rebounding, keep it simple:
Basic partner or individual drills are fine. Start close to basket and work out. Here's a good progression to improve shooting technique and skills:

Here's a good one to practice shooting footwork:

Here's another good one for small groups you can do after they practice form shooting:

For rebounding, pick a couple of these and keep it simple:

For offense, we highly recommend motion offense. A simple 5 out offense is fine. Players should all get touches so they develop.

If you work on dribbling, footwork, and passing during practice quite a bit... they will get better at handling the press and players should be able to handle a motion offense. That's the only way they are going to get better. If you try to hide them with a 1-4 ball screen offense, only a few players get better. They must development fundamentals, there just is not way around it when it comes to handling pressure and running a good offense. I prefer motion because it's best for player development. If you need pointed in the right direction, let me know.
