Alex,
It looks like you can play the game pretty well, I would say that in the post offensively you need to be a little more active.... kind of like, that position is YOURS and the defender is not going to take it away from you.... IF he is denying you the ball, reposition yourself... you can even go away a step or and come back hard... then do what we call SITTING ON PRESSURE.... lower your body and sit on him / holding him back... IF he moves.. you have to move your feet and fight for your spot.
Which part about defense are you asking about? IN the post or on the perimeter? To be a good defensive player, all it takes is a little heart and desire...and some quick feet. Defense is all about being in the right position... IF you man is off the ball, get to the help line and anticipate him cutting to the ball and beat him to the spot. You are 6'6? Pretty big kid for 16 .... Older players are going to test you, don't back down.... the tougher you play the more they will respect you. Playing defense in the post is a physical task... don't be afraid to mix it up a little bit... Make sure you have a good solid stance and they wont be able to push you around. I hope this helps a little bit.... if there is anything else - let us know.
