You have to answer this question ... IF you feel that this is in your best interests and it will help you to improve your game.... then that might be a good choice... weigh the Pros and Cons and then make an informed decision.
Sometimes the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence... do your homework here... do some investigating.

Here is something that George Lehman said..... at the end of all of his coaching clinics and on an old tape I have from him shooting... an amazing shooter by the way.
" The ball is in your court! What are you going to do with it? "
IF you want something bad enough, you will work to get it. You are talking with two guys that decided they wanted something and went out and got their college educations.... at an age when most wanted NO part of college.

D U K E!
We played against Chris Collins - he killed us... and our school played against Joh Scheyer for 4 years...... 8 losses. Tough kids and nice kids too.

Im going out on a limb here and taking Butler. I like their chemistry much better than Duke's. And Hoosiers was my all time favorite basketball movie along with One on One Coach Mac
4/5/2010 22:57
It should be a good game but I think Duke has too much firepower for Butler..... Butler's team is designed to stop penetration.... I don't think that you can do that and stop bombers.
NOT when you have three of them.
NOT when you have three of them.

A little bit softer on the half court bomb by Haywood and Duke would have went home crying lol .
Quest to play div1 ball ......
My jumpshot is slowly getting back to it's normal form but not up to game pace yet , but i'm getting there .
I've made it a challenge to guard the player that just came back from usa( the dude i always say is high div 1 talent) and i have really taken it to him in
the last couple scrimmages and now he comes after me. He always comes to guard me now so i feel good about that .
In a 10 min scrimmage i'm scoring 15 pts with no jumper . Coach told me it wil get there but i need to be under control and still make better decisions .
Is there anyway guys that i can improve my Decision making ???
Have a great day

Who's crying now? LOL
Keep working on the J...... as for decision making... there is another thread regarding this but as for me.... its all about playing and knowing your limitations - stay away from your weaknesses until you work on them to correct them. If you are talking about passing or general things... know where the D is and what they like to do.... read and react to what they do. We used to have a saying - "DON'T FIGHT PRESSURE" Back door and go to the rim... that way you wont confuse the passer.
The more you play the better you will get at making decisions.

I didn't coach against Jon.... I coached against Chris Collins....... Chris was not fast but had a great first step and range just over half court.....
Jon.... was so good, he could do it all and at the high school level, pretty much unstoppable. Look at him... and he as the Point Guard for Duke... not the proto typical looking point guard for a Major D1 school.

Hey Coach ..... Long time no speak, what's news ??
Here's the update from me .
3 games into the season and i've quit the team, my highschool coach( greatest coach). I'm one of the best players on the team yet the coach wont play me just because i'm young . I've reliased i can't waste another season because that's what i was lacking most " game experince" so now i'm looking to get on a team where i can play 20+ mins a game . I think i made the right decision . It was a tough one because i got along with all the guys so well and if it wasn't for game experince i would have stayed because i'm not a quitter but in this situation it just had to be done for the best.
Coach if i cant get access to a gym, what kind of strength work can i do at home?
Takecare

Thought you dropped off the face of the Earth for a minute.
Sorry to hear that you quit, I was hoping that you would stick with it and hopefully get what you need. There are things to be learned from every situation and coach. NOW -- IF you would have aksed me BEFORE you quit.... I would have told you to find another team BEFORE you left.
It's like that in the real world too... don't quit a job until you have another one in hand. ESPECIALLY in the Job Market of today..... ok, thats my sermon for the day. (you're luck I'm not there, I'd kick your butt LOL)
Aside from having your own private gym or equipment, I'm not sure, but hopefully some of the others can answer this for you. Good luck.

Its not me Coach . I never quit but my Highschool coach just told me i had too . Both the head coach and assistant coach where telling me to leave and they've been talking to plenty of teams for me i should be able to find a place . Think about it like this . One of the major things I'm lacking is game experince. I cant let the season slip sittin g on the bench + coach is bringing in to college players in May so if i'm not getting on the court now what chance will i have later on .
I just want you to know that I'm not a quitter it's just what i had to do . My high school coach has over 50 yrs of playing( at ncaa level) and coaching experince and he is a hell of a coach and i respect him and my assistant coaches opinion and they went the best for me so i think that i had to trust them and follow there advice . Lets hope they are right lol
Do you think it was the right decision but?
bye

I'm not questioning their expertise.... I just wonder why you couldn't wait until you had another team to go to?? I don't have a problem with changing teams..... you weren't getting any playing time to speak of... so yes, find someplace where you will get some time.
But, where are you playing now?
But, where are you playing now?

because then i would have had too pay the registration money lol . So i would have lost my money so i had to make the decision now . Coach is speaking with a couple of teams so will see how it goes . i'll keep you posted . And also i only made the decision this weekend because my coach came to watch a game of mine and he saw the dum rotations my coach was making and how he pretty much lost us the game with his rotations and didn't even play me so he told me to get out of there now .
4/13/2010 14:50
I understand better now..... no sense in paying to sit... you can watch the games in the stands NOT paying.
I hope you get what you want - good luck.

Mamba: With all due respect to your coach that you presently admire, I must question his intentions and motivations on why he's trashing the coach you used to have. It has long been my philosophy NOT to bad mouth another coach ESPECIALLY, to a player. You say he has all this experience? then he should know better. Coach Mac
4/14/2010 09:43
Coach Mac: Thats just how he is Lol . Other than that he is a good coach .
Coach Sar: I think i've made you proud, my coach wanted to speak to me about thinking about my decision again and i made the decision to stay until i could sign with another team . I've got a workout with a team next Sunday so will see how it goes but for now i'll do what you told me and stay with this team until i find another .

That's a much better decision..... let me throw this out to you..... You are going to meet a lot of people in your lifetime.... some good, some bad, some so-so. You can learn from each and every one of them.
I think you were probably looking for someone to lean on there and your coach was the guy... maybe he told you what you wanted to hear? (I'M a little more PC than Coach Mac right now... never was LOL)
The bottom line is this.... try to make an informed decision..... is this good for me? Is it bad for me? Is this the best I can expect right now? Next time you get into a position like this.... write down the Pros and Cons and then make a intelligent decision.... this might keep you from making a emotional decision... one you might be sorry for later on.
BEFORE you sign with another team.. investigate what this team is all about.... IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU? Don't just switch for the sake of changing. Good luck and I hope you find what you are looking for.
I agree with Coach Mac..... coaches shouldn't judge other coaches - we get that enough from ALL the Monday Morning COACHES in the STANDS.
