AND YOURS...... HE is giving you the opportunity.... now its up to you. Go for it.
Mamba...I really did not want to answer this post but when you say its up to the man upstairs..I really hope you mean Red Aurbach...and not the guy that could walk on water..Mamba...its up to YOU...dont give us excuses..simply...give us results..take care..Coach Mac
Yea i know its up to me . but he aint really giving me an opportunity . My school coach reckons i should move teams because he thinks this coach is as dum as dog s**t . I do no know what to do anymore . i definently dont want to run away from my problems .

Anyways coach i'll keep working hard on my game . So these two weeks im planning to get up 1000 shoots a day , dribbling drills and conditioning drills and also some strength work .

What kind of shots do you suggest i take and what are some good dribbling drills/tips to help me become a top notch dribbler
Mamba: In my opinion, there are few as good at advising you on practice plans than Coach Sars. I saw something he left on a blog for another young man and it was incredible. My job is to take care of your psychie and insure that you turn out to be a well rounded young man. Take care my young friend Coach Mac
Sure Mac, lay it off on me LOL :-)

Mamba, shots are shots but I would make sure that 50-60% of the shots I practice would be of the kind I will get in the games I play..... no sense in wokring on dunking when you are lucky to touch the net (like you LOL)
Seriously..... Form shooting.... Game shots and game speed - then work on increasing your range from all over the floor.

IF you look on the left side under Basketball Drills THEN Players THEN Ball Handling and Dribbling you will find a lot of drills to work on. YOU can also do a search for dribbling drills. Then as you learn the drills work on improving the speed you do them at.

As I suggested before.... anytime you are making a practice plan, think of your weaknesses and then plan how you are going to improve upon those problems.

As for the other stuff..... you cant worry about anything that you have NO control over... all you can do is to take care of your business.......... when you practice... make sure that you practice so hard that he cant help but notice you... make it HARD for him NOT to play you.
Ken: when you are working with the best, you have to defer to their strengths..Mac
You are GOOD Mac! You definately know how to make a guy feel good. But YOU are the one with all the big credentials... and the knowledge that goes with it.

Ken
okay thanks coach , I'm really struggling with my jumper now because my school coach has told me its terrible i have to change it . I've been jumping then releasing( TRYING to imitate ray allen) when i shoot 3 balls its flat so im trying to change it back to normal and i am having bit of trouble cuz ive gotten used to trying to jump then shoot .

I think my jumper is the only thing holding me back , if my man plays me tight i will get to the rack 9 times out 0f 10 but because im not a good shooter , they play off me and i still try to drive .

Hey watch this video of a friend of mine , he plays at stetson was a freshmen.... his game is similar to mine except he can jump out of the gym and shoots the ball fairly well . But his pretty inconsistent and didn't have the best numbers at stetson this yr . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVqjA7ztrUI

I want it so bad coach , i just cant explain it .

and thanks coach alot coach mac for all your help . same goes to you coach sar
Do yourself (and Coach Mac and I ) just be yourself.... stop trying to do something that isn't you. It just messes with your game. Now you have to go back to work..... do some form shooting... then work on your jumper, slowly at first and then work up to game speed.

If you want it badly enough, you WILL get it done......

That kid has game!
tell me about huh ,, dude can play ..... but i aint that far off !
coach if you dont hear from me by tomorrow , then i;ve killed myself lol ...... I;ve gotten so used to trying to shoot like ray allen ( jumping then releasing ) that i've forgotten how to shoot a normal jumper . i want to go back to my old technique cuz the ray allen one gives me no arc and it just aint me . How the hell can i shoot the ball normal , like a normal person again :'( lol ,
Then stop messing with your game and be yourself.
thats the problem i cant , its like my body has forgotten my old technique . Every time i go to shoot i just go back to my usual routine
DO You WANT to be a player or not? IF you do, then you will do whatever it takes to get it done.

Nothing worth while on the Earth comes easy....... read what coach Mac and I said to Cody. We both got to this point the hard way - and IF we can do, so can you.... or, you can be a quitter and say NO, its too hard. IF you say that, then you are not an athlete.... no one quits- NEVER!

You get knocked down, you get back.... now - get back there and work on your shot. No more EXCUSES.
Which one are you?

Every day somewhere in Africa
A gazelle wakes up
It knows it must run faster
Than the fastest lion around
Lest it be eaten

Every day somewhere in Africa
A lion wakes up
It knows it must run faster
Than the slowest gazelle around
Lest it starve to death

Every day it does not matter
Whether you are a lion or a gazelle
Because you must run faster
Than the chores of life!

*"We are more limited by our beliefs than our abilities. If you believe you are an average basketball player, you'll play like one. Believe you are a champion, and you'll eventually be one. Set your goals high and let them lift you up to where you really want to go."....Dr. Tom Amberry
Mamba: Why do you want to shoot like Ray Allen, why do many kids want to shoot like Kobe, or even be like Mike. You are not Ray Allen or Kobe or even Micheal Jordon and I get tired of watching kids trying to emulate players that they idolize in the N.B.A. Morgan Wooten, the great Dematha coach taught me this many many years ago and i live by it. As a coach and a player, you must be yourself, if you try to be someone your are not, your credibility will come under question and your players and other coaches will begin to doubt your honesty. You are you, and you want to be the best you you can be.

John Wooden said it best: "Success comes for a direct result of knowing that you did your very best to become the best you could be.

Your problem son, is that your dreams and delusions of grandeur of getting a D1 scholarship and eventually going to the N.B.A. are getting in the way of your present task. Its great to have dreams and goals, but if all you do is dream instead of doing, then those lofty goals will be unreachable. Get into the now my young friend. There are talkers and doers, which one are you?????Coach Mac
i'm a doer coach no doubt . but im trying to change the ray allen shot but its like my muscles would physically remember how to shoot like they normally used too
Then go right back to the basics. the form shooting from close in practice your form until it becomes habit. Once you have mastered from five feet move to seven, then to ten. Regain your confidence, Coach Mac. Remember this, a good shooter never misses left or never misses right, he will miss long or short. Check your body in relationship to the target, are your feet pointing on the target, your shoulders, your knees and most importantly, your elbow. Coach Mac
alright coach will do . Question coach . if you where me . Would you stay with a team , who has good experince players but you only get on the floor for 5- 10 mins in a mens league or would you go to a team where you can start get 25+ minutes and get some game experience in an under 20's comp ??

Because right now i'm not getting alot of time and i'm thinking of moving to an under/20s side to get some game exp because now i can match it skill wise with these guys but i dont have the game knowledge/exp to transfer it in the game . Maybe i'll pick it up mid way through the season .
I agree with coach Mac... stop complaining or worrying... just get after fixing your shot. You know what they say about excuses.
