Lead Instructor - Sean Smiley  

Sean Smiley serves as head coach of the Fredonia State men’s basketball program. Under his leadership, the Blue Devils have developed one of the most efficient and high-powered offenses in the SUNYAC, consistently ranking among the conference leaders in key offensive categories.

Smiley has expanded the program’s national and international recruiting footprint while prioritizing academic excellence, helping the team achieve its highest GPA in over 25 years. Off the court, he has revitalized alumni engagement and fundraising, raising over $20,000 for facility upgrades and launching an annual MLK Jr. High School Showcase.

Prior to Fredonia, Smiley coached at Hobart College, helping lead the program to a Liberty League title, national ranking, and NCAA Sweet 16 appearance. A former standout player and captain at the University at Buffalo, Smiley brings Division I playing and coaching experience to the Blue Devils.
