Coach Carl Scales is a Breakthrough Basketball Camp veteran, having coached with us for the last 10 years.

Boys� Varsity Assistant (2006-2012) - Eastview High School, Apple Valley MN. Helped them to 4 section final games and 2 state tournament berths, 2010 and 2012

15 years of AAU/TRAVEL Basketball Head Coach: Girls - MN Metro Stars & MN Fury. Boys - MN Magic, Richfield Select

Director of Summer Camps and Clinics for the Richfield Boys Basketball Association 2012-2016

Boys� Varsity Assistance (2023-2025) � Hill-Murray School, Maplewood, MN. Led them to 2 consecutive years of top #15 defenses in MN Class 3A.

Coach Annie Isler

Former Women's Basketball Assistant Coach & Assistant Information Sports Director at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. Isler also spent three seasons on staff with the WNBA�s Minnesota Lynx serving as video coordinator and player development associate

A state champion player at Hopkins High School in Minneapolis, Isler was a four-year letter winner at Carleton and ranks among the program�s leaders in career assists and steals. She earned All-MIAC honorable mention in 2008 after leading the Knights to an NCAA Championships appearance

Worked on the basketball staffs at four NCAA Division I programs: the University of Memphis, University of North Dakota, Illinois State University, and Marquette University. Her previous coaching experience also includes time at Ohio Wesleyan University (D-III) as well as multiple stints at Hopkins High School

Foundation of Shooting

This is the first step in becoming a great shooter. Some players will progress through this stage quickly, while others will need to spend a bit more time to correct some bad habits. You will also learn:

How your stance could actually be causing your shot to go left and right and how to fix it

Why the parallel stance may not be the right fit for you

How your legs and not just your follow through can actually cause a flat shot

The proper release point and follow through

How inflexibility in your legs can affect your shot in a negative way

Learn the Steve Nash adjustment that allows players to shoot accurately from further distances

Shooting Off of the Catch Like Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant

After we have built a great shooting foundation, we will progress to shooting off of the catch. You will learn:

How to make your shot quicker

The mentality to making your shot quicker

The proper body position for every shot off of the catch

The proper footwork for different situations during the game

The proper hand position to create consistency and accuracy

How to pull up out of the fast break

Shooting Off of the Dribble Like Russell Westbrook & Kyrie Irving

As the levels go up, it's very important to add a pull up jump shot off of the dribble. This gives you the ability to score as defenders rush out to defend the initial shot. You will learn:

The often ignored, but important progressions for the shot off of the dribble learned from legendary Hal Wissel who coached in the NBA

Learn how to properly pick up the basketball and how doing it the wrong way could be causing your shot to miss to the left and the right

Learn how the pace of the dribble can make your shot quicker

Learn how to properly execute the sweep and step through to create space from your defender

Learn the mentality needed to have a successful pull up jump shot and how the wrong mentality can be easily defended

Learn Advanced Shooting Techniques Used by the Pros

You will learn the keys to a quick release used by the pros such as Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry. You will learn the Michael Jordan 1-2 step used to create space and hit the open jumper.

You will learn the details required to be successful with these advanced moves. If you're not ready for the advanced moves yet, we have a system setup that will progress players at the proper rates.

We're excited to provide this 4 day youth camp in Eagan, Minnesota that focuses on giving your little baller the essential drills and instruction to build a foundation on how to play the game of basketball.

Learn the necessary warm up, dribbling, passing, footwork, finishing moves & foundational shooting drills all while having FUN.

Ball is not life. We�ll also talk to the kids about gratitude, attitude, kindness, success, etc.

You will learn dynamic stretching that will improve coordination, core strength and flexibility while working on sports-specific movements.

Partner Passing drills to learn the proper chest pass, bounce pass, flick air pass, etc.

Observing Coaches

Coaches can attend for free by working the basketball camp. Email us with your coaching/playing experience if you're interested in helping with the basketball camp.

Otherwise there is a $97 fee to attend as an "observing coach". You will get to learn new drills and techniques from Carl Scales, just like all the players and other coaches in attendance. Visit this link to reserve your spot as an observing coach.
