Aggies: BLOB Play for Your Best Shooter With Posts Options As Well
This is an inbounds play that Texas A&M has used this season to get their 2-guard a three-point look, coming off a double-stagger screen. This play also gives the passer the option of throwing the ball inside if 2 is not open.
3 should be a good ball-handler, decision-maker and shooter.
2 should be your best shooter
1 is the point guard and a safety outlet.
4 and 5 are the bigs and need to be able to screen well.
4 cuts to ball-side corner.
1 spaces out up top.
3 passes to 4.
Following entry pass, 5 sets a down screen for 3, who sprints to right lane extended.
4 passes to 3.
5 and 4 set stagger screens for 2.
4 then posts while 5 slips to opposite block.
3 has the option to passing to 2 or the posts.
If 2 or the posts aren't open, there are several options.
3 can call for a ball screen from 4 or 5 for a pick-n-pop situation.
3 can pass to 1 and have 1 and 5 play a two-man screen-n-roll game.
3 can pass to 2 for a screen-n-roll game.
Continuity: #1
3 runs a pick and roll with a post.
The non-screening post will fade out to short corner.
I like going to the right so 5 will come up to set the ball screen.
4 will slide out to the corner.
2 will lift based on his read of 3's drive and 5's roll/pop.
1 has a read option as well.
Continuity: #2
3 passes to 1 on wing.
5 comes to set a ball screen for 1.
3, 4, 2 have reads based on 1's drive and 5's roll.
Continuity #3.
3 passes to 2.
4 screens away for 5, then slides out to short corner.
5 then sets a ball screen for 2.
1 and 3 exchange with the option of screening for one another -- I would screen for 3 only if two already was driving to the basket. Otherwise, 3 would screen for 1.
Note: 5 should have the option to post following 4's cross screen before going to set the ball screen for 2.
