Swing foot to front of the rim question

Hello. When teaching pivot counter swing foot front of the rim to 4th and 5th grade girls is there a variation I can teach them since they are not as advanced as the boys in the video with the no backboard straight on layups. If I lead them to the front of the rim should I have them adjust to more of a straight line towards the backboard for a backboard layup or stay the course and just lead them to the front of the rim. Thanks
