Verbal Cues

Working with my 4th grade travel team on help defense. We've done some shell drill, but once we leave that drill, I have a few guys that just aren't grasping it and continue to follow their man around as close as possible, ignoring the rest of the court/players basically.

Looking to put in a verbal cue I can yell from the sidelines as a reminder to drop off their man to be in more of a help position. I can't use "Help" because when i say that, they start looking around for someone driving thinking they are supposed to be stopping someone. I just want them to have a quick cue to drop back a bit so they can see their man and the ball. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Couple options include:

"Help Side"
"Rim Line"

I usually say... "Jimmy... Help Side!"

I use "sheriff" or "pistols". Based off a defensive drill where a player is the sheriff and has one pistol pointing at his man and one pointing at the ball, at all times.

Whatever you use, I think it's important to have a shell drill and use a keyword they'll remember based on doing the drill.
