Stronger with the ball

Forum » Basketball Offense » Stronger with the ball
I have a pretty good team of 5th grade boys, but one team demolished us so far this season.

They ran an aggressive full court trap and an aggressive half court zone the entire game.

We had lots of turnovers on plays that I describe as not being strong with the ball: floaty passes to stationary receivers, lobbed passes that were tipped away, receptions under pressure where we traveled, and tips passes by the on ball receiver.

This is something I have tried to really focus on the past couple of weeks: taking care of the ball, good jump stops, strong hard passes. But I need some additional suggestions for drills to emphasize this.

One that I generally like is Ultimate Basketball. Essentially the rules of ultimate frisbee, with no dribbles allowed, any time the ball hits the ground it is a turn, you score a point by simply catching it past the free throw line (like an endzone).

But any other drills that would be good for simply taking care of the ball?

Thanks.
Here are a few that come to mind...

1v2 dribbling
1v2 dribbling with trap from sideline and narrow court
5 vs 6or7 (add a couple defenders to try and simulate what they'll see defensively)
