We played a team that constantly sent in subs. We played zone defense and got beat bad. My girls know how to play M2M and I'd like them to use it when we play this team again in a few weeks. (5/6th grade girls). What do I tell them to prepare for these constant subs?
Thanks,
Aimee

Work on that in practice if you can.... otherwise... come game time, tell them to call out their player ever time there is a sub. A lot of teams do this to confuse the defenders.... so it takes a lot of focus. Good luck

Thanks. Will try it this week :)

Coach Sar is correct, they need to call out their players on subs. I would also do it on time outs as players can switch during a time out. Even if there is no change in players, it's a good habit to emphasize.

I'll agree with the constant communicaiton.
One thing I like to do in practice is run a 3 on 3 on 3 on 3 drill. You basically play 3 on 3, make it take it, and a new three enters on each series. Make sure ithe changes are quick, quick, quick. It is great when you don't have an number divisable by 3, so new teams of 3 are rotating in. It really teaches them the speed of the game and to focus. Good luck.

I really like that idea golfman25! Especially since there are 12 girls on the team. Thanks!
