New Relentless Pressure System Video - Basketball Press Defense Off Misses

By Jeff Huber

In this video, 3x State Champion Coach Mike Hilmer explains how to press off MISSES as part of his Relentless Pressure System.

A lot of teams press off makes, but that means you are only pressing roughly half the time. Coach Hilmer explains how to press on EVERY possession, never allowing your opponent to make an uncontested dribble or pass.

This allows you to dictate tempo throughout the entire game, wearing your opponent down. Additionally, since almost no one presses off misses, it makes you unique and hard to prepare for.

The video is broken down into 3 sections:

  1. The rationale for pressing off misses
  2. How to press off misses - the key teaching points
  3. A drill to practice pressing off misses

This YouTube Video covers:

  1. 5 reasons to press off misses
  2. The assignments players must know to be ready to press off makes & misses
  3. How the "row" system makes it easy for players to quickly get to their spots on a miss
  4. How pressing off misses impacts your offensive rebounding philosophy
  5. The way the "row" approach confuses offenses by appearing to be a zone when in fact it's man to man
  6. The responsibilities of each "row"
  7. A drill that uses the coach to create a rebound so every possession is a "miss"
  8. A goal of possessions that you should shoot for in every game

The strength of The Relentless Pressure System With Mike Hilmer is its ability to mentally and physically wear down your opponent, while simultaneously creating easier scoring opportunities for your team.

Go all in on pressing and see your team start lighting up opponents and the scoreboard!
