Who is Alexander Wright?

Alexander “POPS” Wright Jr. is a former Harlem Globetrotters player, collegiate coach, and nationally recognized player development specialist with more than 11 years of professional basketball experience in the United States and Europe.

POPS currently serves as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach, Head of Player Development, and Recruiting Coordinator at Edward Waters University. He is known for his ability to develop players on and off the court, emphasizing discipline, accountability, leadership, and character.

Before joining Edward Waters, POPS worked at IMG Academy as a Residential Mentor and Basketball Player Development Coach, helping elite student-athletes grow athletically, academically, and personally. He also served as a Strength & Conditioning Coach and Assistant Basketball Coach at Fayetteville Technical Community College.

POPS is the founder of POPS Motivational, a mentorship and basketball training organization dedicated to empowering young athletes through skill development, leadership training, and motivational speaking.

For more than 10 years, POPS has also been a Lead Coach with Breakthrough Basketball where he has inspired thousands of players nationwide through high-energy camps focused on fundamentals, confidence, mental toughness, and teamwork.

With his unique combination of professional playing experience, college coaching, and motivational leadership, POPS is passionate about helping athletes build the skills and character needed to succeed in basketball and in life.
