Coach Nick Neal

A Detroit native, Nick Neal brings over 11 years of professional basketball experience across Europe (Italy, Republic of Georgia, Croatia, Poland, Serbia, Portugal, and Czech Republic) for 11 seasons and one season in Egypt. He played two years at Kalamazoo Valley CC, earning 2nd Team All-Conference honors and ranking highly in 3-point stats. He then finished his college career at Purdue University North Central, where he scored 1,121 points in less than two years, becoming the first to reach 1,000 points in school history

As a player at PNC, Nick was 1st in the conference in scoring (20.3 ppg), steals (1.8 spg), free throw percentage (81%), and free throw attempts (8.4/game). He earned multiple All-Conference selections and was a 3-time CCAC Player of the Week

With over 8 years of coaching experience, he focuses on player development, fostering good habits, consistency, teamwork, and resilience. This is the first step in becoming a great shooter. Some players will progress through this stage quickly, while others will need to spend a bit more time to correct some bad habits. You will also learn:

Shooting Off of the Dribble Like Russell Westbrook & Kyrie Irving

As the levels go up, it's very important to add a pull up jump shot off of the dribble. This gives you the ability to score as defenders rush out to defend the initial shot. You will learn:

The often ignored, but important progressions for the shot off of the dribble learned from legendary Hal Wissel who coached in the NBA

Learn how to properly pick up the basketball and how doing it the wrong way could be causing your shot to miss to the left and the right

We're pleased to announce that we have arranged for Jamal Edwards to come to Rochester Hills, Michigan to run a 3-day skill development camp for high school and middle school players. Coach Edwards has developed a very effective method to develop players and improve their decision making.
We have chosen this basketball camp and Jamal Edwards because of his unique and highly effective training methods and ability to get results. More than other traditional basketball camps, this camp will teach you with the drills and skills to continue your development beyond your time at camp. Quick decision making drills will be used to build the ideal camp learning environment. You will learn by doing. We will teach you to consistently and deliberately work to improve your performance.

Improve Your Ball handling

Considerable time will be spent on your dribbling and passing skills -- allowing you to reduce turnovers, handle any game situation, improve decision making, and improve overall ball handling skill.

Improve Your 1on1 Moves

You will learn how to beat your defender off the dribble, when to attack, how to create space, and how to develop a more explosive first move. In today's game, so many players misuse the dribble. They use it and lose their advantage against the defense. You will learn how to effectively use the dribble and cover more space with fewer dribbles at a faster pace.

Improve Confidence

During the camp, they will teach the mental aspects of the game, help you build confidence, and become more aggressive. You will learn how to train your mind, not just physical skills.

Improve Decision Making

A major emphasis of the camp will be to improve decision making. You will improve your ability to think and act in decisive ways. The unique decision making drills and skills will help you perform under pressure at the highest level.

What is Quick Decision Making?

In this camp you will improve your overall skills like ball handling and shooting -- however a big emphasis of the camp will be "decision making"...

Players will learn when to pass, when to shoot, when to dribble, when to drive, angles to take, how to be more aggressive, and more.

The Training methods will:

Train the mind of players to make faster decisions within the practice environment

Improve the ability to think and act in decisive ways

Develop a confident attacking mindset

Learn how to train your mind not just physical skills

Identification, cause and correction of the most common fundamental errors

Coaches can attend for free by working the basketball camp. Email us with your coaching/playing experience if you're interested in helping with the basketball camp.
