6 Plays - Under 3 Seconds Left, Ball Out Of Bounds, You Need a 3
If you are going to coach, at some point, you will be in the situation where you have the ball out of bounds with little time left on the clock and need a 3. What do you do?
It has to be quick and easy. Try one of these.
Below, we have 3 BLOBs and 3 SLOBs.
Play #1 - BLOB “Line”
1 and 2 are your primary shooters
1 cuts out of the line to the corner
5 and 4 pinch in on 2's defender.
2 steps straight back. Passer looks to 2 over the top or 1 in the corner for the shot.Play #2 - BLOB "Pinch”
1 and 2 are primary shooters.
2 steps into the lane to screen for 1
1 cuts hard to the corner.
4 and 5 pinch 2's defender
2 cuts through the pinch
Passer looks over the top to 2 or corner to 1 for the shot.
Play # 3 - BLOB "Swing"
1 and 2 are the primary shooters.
4 and 5 step to set a screen for 2.
1 steps inside 4 to create a stagger screen with 4.
2 cuts off the screen by 5 and the stagger by 1 and 4 to the corner.
4 then steps in to screen for 1.
1 peels to the top.
Passer looks to 2 then to 1 for the shot.
Play #4 - SLOB "Line"
1, 2 and 3 are primary shooters.
1 curls over the top and fades to the weak side.
3 cuts behind the stack to the strong side corner.
5 steps out and screens for 2
2 cuts to the top.
Passer looks to 1, then 3 then 2 for the shot.
Play # 5 - SLOB "Pitch Back”
1 2 and 3 are primary shooters.
3 screens for 1.
1 cuts to the strong side corner.
4 and 5 pinch in on 3's defender
Passer looks to corner and then to top for pass.
After inbounding, 2 steps hard to the 3 point line and looks for return pass for shot.
Play # 6 - SLOB "Special"
1 and 2 are primary shooters.
5 steps in to screen for 1.
1 cuts off screen to the strong side corner.
4 flares screens for 2.
2 flares off 4's screen to the weak side.
Passer looks to 1 then to 2 for the shot.
