Driving in Basketball

How do you stop good players from driving.

This is what we tried to do when we wanted to prevent penetration -

First of all, you need good HELP defense....

1- If the player is at the point, direct him to the free throw line extended... using that fram of reference, they shouldn't get beat down the middle.

2- IF the ball is on the wing. dircet that player to the short corner( 8-10 from the basket on the base line.)

The next player in line has to help out IF he/she sees his teammate getting beat ... just open up and get a hand in the passing/driving lane to try and deflect the ball.

You could try and control him by playing straight up... but IF he is that much better, then you might want to be proactive and use 1&2 above.
