Best Outdoor Basketball for Concrete Driveway

Forum » Parents Area » Best Outdoor Basketball for Concrete Driveway
Thought you guys might be able to help with this. My son enjoys shooting outdoors on our concrete driveway. We've tried several composite leather balls and they always seem to pick up \"concrete dust\" and make the ball very slippery. Do you think a rubber ball would work best? Do you have any recommendations for a premium one?

Thanks for your help.

My son has gone through a few outdoor balls. We tried the Spalding never flat ball which works, but has a funky feel to it and also seemed heavier than a normal ball. Definitely a good outdoor ball with regards to wear and tear. We ended up going with a Wilson NCAA indoor/outdoor, seems to hold up well.

I tell my son that playing on outdoor courts is good for his game. Different rims, nets, backboards, cracks in the court, wind, sun, cold, hot, etc. Same goes for the ball. If you can handle a ball that is a little worn out and play in conditions that aren't as pristine as the indoors, playing on indoor courts with a game ball should be easier.
I generally recommend you have one good indoor ball (leather or composite leather) that you only use indoors. And have another ball you only use outdoor. There are exceptions, but for outdoor, often times a less expensive rubber ball works best.

Here are a few good balls you can dedicate to outdoor use:

I have found all these work well for outdoor use. More expensive options listed at top with least expensive at bottom.
