Injured 13 - Year Old Basketball Player W

Need a parent advice, since I have never had to deal with this. My 13 year recently fractured his right index finger playing basketball during Pre-Athletics. X-rays showed that the fracture should take about three weeks to heal. He is extremely disappointed because He currently plays AAU. basketball. I asked him recently If he wants to go to basketball practice and His answer was No because He feels like there is nothing He can do. Plus the fracture on his index finger is on his shooting hand. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
