You are coaching freshman in high school, I don't think anyone here has a problem with presses & traps at that level.
What we are ticked about is the people coaching young kids... 7-8 9-10-11 year old kids..... pressing and trapping all over! Those kids NEVER have a chance to learn the fundamentals of the game and HAVE SOME FUN! Thats just bull! Those kids that aren't successful and not having fun end up quitting.
(now you got me all worked up haha)
At your level it is fine and actually I wouldn't have any problem with that, we taught that at our high school also.

Also, I'll point out that until you get to High School where you practice daily, you just don't have the time to teach them everything. We practice 1 hour per week, with 5 practice b4 the first game. With that amount of time you can get in a few drills and maybe 10-15 min. of scrimage time.
