Anything I can do to help you, all you have to do is ask. There are a lot of knowledgeable coaches in here that would be more than willing to help. I get a lot of information from other coaches that seem to help younger players. So, keep up the good work, work on the fundamentals.... and let us know how things are going.

today was my first njb game(7th-8th graders). I made a few good passes but did not score any points 0-6. OUCH. I think i might have forced the issue a bit but nobody was really helping me at all. we lost 37-30.

Thanks for keeping us posted....

Maybe you were a little nervous in this first game? Build off the good things you did... look at the things you feel like you didn't do well and work on them in practice and at home if you can.

As for the shooting part.... there is a saying... don't go looking for the shot.. let it find you. I think that IF you do this... you will be more successful.... and RELAX a little bit... have some FUN! (0-6 OUCH.... that's pretty funny - NOT the missing part... just the way you put it)

By the way, did you get to the free throw line? When you get to shoot some free throws you can check your form... Do you have good form? IF you aren't sure, let me know and I will walk you through a few things....

Good luck

most of my shots were in the paint(floaters) and had 2 outside shots one a 3 and the other a 17 footer. i have good form i usually make 60-70% of my shots inside the 3 at practice and/or when i shoot around.

Well, you are getting into the paint, thats a good thing... how about you try and JUMP STOP instead of the floater..... that way you can gather yourself and have more body control? When you float your body is usually moving to one side and that changes your shot.... a tough thing to control at your age. THOUGHTS?

When you come to a jump stop you can decide if you are wide open for the shot.. or you can dump it to a post player or kick it out to a open player on the perimiter.

so you're saying more like a stop and pop. a shot more than a floater.

Definately.... have your body under control...... you will see more success.
By the way, aren't you supposed to be in school now? ;-)

I hope you are doing well academically- thats the thing that will take you somewhere in life.... ball players are a dime a dozen and only a select few make it to the " bigs."
