When making moves going to the basket I think you should be able to go both ways... otherwise when coaches scout your team they will say that Ekam only goes one way, force him the other way and take that move away from him..... being able to go both ways makes you a more complete player.

Good luck and let us know how its going. Enjoy your summer.

In my opinion.... be able to do every move both ways. Like I said.... lets say you are a varsity player... I come to scout your team and I see players doing certain things... as I look at you I could then say, he does X,Y, & Z going this way..... and he does these moves both ways.... advantage me. IF you can do them all both ways.... ADVANTAGE YOU.

Don't get me wrong.... I think that every player has his FAVORITE move.

hey coach.....

for my jjumpshot, the guide hand is messing all my shots up

When i shoot a normal shot without jumping, it is with perfect form and i put no pressure nor squeeze the ball with my guide hand..its just touching it lightly like its supposed too

But when i shoot a jumpshot.. its the exact opposite.. everything is perfect except for the guide hand...i put too much pressure on the ball and basically squeeze it and when i don't try to put pressure and don't get enough control of the ball to bring it up and shoot.

I've seen various help items... one was a board that you attach to your guide hand... another was a glove. Since I cant see your shot I can only surmise that you are shooting out of your comfort zone.......

Start shooting jumpers 6-7 feet from the basket and see how your form is.. is your guide hand still? Keep working your way out and see how far you can go keeping your guide hand still.... once you get to the point where you are using your guide hand to get the ball to the basket and ruining your shot.... you need to step back into your comfort zone AND work on your shot. After a few days..... take one step back and try again.

The THUMB on your guide hand should start out pointing at your forehead and finishing that way.

Let us know how this works out for you.

You got that right.... thats why your shot is messed up...... start with form shooting one handed..... then add the guide hand but do NOT let it touch the ball..... and shoot some more..... then add the guide hand on the ball... with your thumb pointed towards your forehead..... and if you don't have a basket to work with you can shoot against a wall.

does the thumb have to be completely straight pointing back or can be pointing to the right just a little bit...
wheni make it completely straight my thumb doesn't touch the ball

Yes, a little bit is not going to hurt anything... the key is.... DON'T let it have anything to do with the shot... remember... its the guide hand... the guide hand is there to keep the ball on your shooting hand......... AND ... the more it points to the right, the more it will effect the shot.
