Two things -

1- We can always do better. I had a college professor tell me that. We were to give ourself a grade, I never did that before.... so I gave myself a B... he asked me why not an A? I told him that I guess I could have done better - he said, we can always do better. So, DO THE BEST YOU CAN and then move on. I'm sure that you are working hard.

2- When you are doing this ( making 5 shots in a row ) just move back several feet until you can accomplish 5 in a row again. Start at 5 feet and make five in a row.... then move to 8-10 feet and make five in a row.... just keep moving back until you reach your ultimate goal.... threes?

Ekam: I have always told my players this, and its something I learned from an old hockey coach of mine a hundred years ago. when a player tells you he gave 100 percent I tell them, no, you didn't, you can always do more. 100% is perfect and there is no player that i know of that did everything humanly possible to win a game. this term 110% is bandied around from league to league you hear it all the time. But in my humble opinion, there is always something you could have done but didn't. Did you go aggressively after that loose ball on the floor, did you go hard to the basket in order to secure that offensive rebound. Did you set an aggressive pick to free up your teammate. Did you completely shut down the opposing teams star when you played him/her defensively? If you cant answer yes to all of those situations then you did not give 100% and if you say YES to all of those questions, then there is still something more you could have done. take care Coach Mac.

Ekam, keep working on that drill until you accomplish your goal of being able to shoot threes. One step at a time..... moving out slowly, making five in a row until you get past the arc - however long that takes.

A suggestion.... as you work at - lets say 10 feet from the basket... you can work on shooting off screens.. (any kind of thing you can set up, a chair, cone etc to simulate a screener) and then shooting off the dribble from that distance, making 5 in a row. That way it wont be so boring because it will give you more options and make you more of a complete player.
