I have close to 30 years playing experience from elementary to college level. I currently reside in Northern NJ and work as an educator. I'm currently in my 3rd year as a youth basketball coach (boys and girls) and until this year I always felt i was winging it. I have used your info and bought some DVD materials that you have endorsed and it has added a great deal of structure to my routines.
I am in the mist of trying be a personal coach to provide private session and small group instruction to the area. I was wondering if there is any advice or materials you could suggest to show how to properly run a venture such as this to optimize it's outcome.

I would suggest making flyers/brochures and making contacts with your local coaches. If the local high school coaches can promote your services that would help. I would also suggest working any local camps and trying to build up your contacts with parents and players. Seek out basketball academies to leave your information.

I have to be honest. I don't know where to start. And I'm probably not the best person to give advice either. I have talked to quite a few other coaches that provide training for players. There are so many things from the business model, to getting players, to making parents happy, to what to teach, how long, mental aspects, etc.

I'll save your post because I'm thinking of getting a group of like minded coaches together that do this all over the country and sharing thoughts. If we can find time to get that done I'll send you a message.
