OK - you got the message. Now find a way to balance your studies and ball! Top 8 should get you some playing time....... even if you are #8. IF YOU are the HARDEST working player on the floor you will be noticed.

A #8 for me would be someone who can play GREAT defense, handle the ball pretty well and make good decisions... AND IF he gets a good look, can knock it down. You don't have to be the #1 guy as far as scoring... IF you go out on the floor and you are up by 10, when you leave - you are still up 10 or more... you will have done your job.

Here is the main thing.. RELAX - have some fun while you are out there. Good luck and I hope things work out well for you.

This is what Tim Duncan's mother sang to him when
he was a child:

Good, better, best
Never let it rest
Until your good is better
And your better is your best!

thats a good one coach ive heard that before .

Had a lengthy chat with my school coach today and he still reckons i'm a div 2 player mainly because im going to be a shooting guard and i cant shoot to well ... ive heard that many times that im not a good enough shooter and its starting piss me off, but he goes i hope i prove him wrong . As i was leaving i told him . Div 1 - mid to high major in 2-3 yrs i'll be there , SO i couldnt care less what anyone says now i just want to prove them all wrong and also all the people that dont want you to fail and lift your expectations will just say "do your best and you'll have no regrets" i reckon thats a load of crap . doing my best is playing in the nba and I Maybe i dont have in me know maybe not next year but one day it will click and i will get it together and play in the nba

I wouldn't worry about the NBA right now... you should focus on making it to the next level... whatever that may be. It's great to have dreams... something to work for.....
Write those goals down and the HOW you are going to accomplish them. Remember, only the VERY BEST make it to the Pros... a very small percentage.
Ask Coach Mac, he coaches there... hes coached at all levels. Be patient with yourself.. don't worry to much what others say - but you do have to be realistic. Watch the college kids play, watch the Pros... and then you know just how good you have to be.
Good luck and keep on working.

okay coach i hear you but i know im capable of much more then he believes i am.... anyways i'll stop worrying about the nba and take it step by step , concentrate on the season ahead . but just cause a small percentage make it to the nba or div 1 dont mean i cant be that small percentage . thanks for the advice

Whether you think you can or think you can't - you are right. - Henry ford

Don't live down to expectations. Go out there and do something remarkable - Wendy Wasserstein

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for your dream and to change the world.” Harriet Tubman

The way i see it is that if your gonna go at all why not just go all the way right , you only have one life, one dream, one goal . Why settle for the average results, why should i not risk failure and just set a goal of achieving an achievable dream when i can stretch my limits and my imagination and go for something so many people fear of going after because they risk failure . I just dont want to set my standards low. I want to do what people think is impossible .
I hear you when you say that a very small porpotion make it and i know you dont want me to set my expectations high only to have them crushed in the end .

When I was reading some of your prior posts I was thinking that just maybe you are not being realistic... as I read this - I think that you understand what you need to do to achieve your goal.

I like what you said here... have a dream, shoot for the sky. Remember, its not what others think you can or can not do - ITS WHAT YOU THINK! It's nice to have people believing in you, I understand, been there. What I would like to see you focus on is getting to the next level first.... keep your dreams and goals... as a matter of fact - write out your goals and make a few copies - put them around your room and places you will see them during the day just as a reminder - but take care of business first- SCHOOL. :-)
