Sorry, Coach Sars. I forgot to clarify. I meant to say in making it to the NBA.

No problem Joe, I guess I went off on a tangent :-)

Some times when I start typing I get carried away! I go with whatever comes to mind... I do go back and re read it... but IF I think I like it I let it go.

I like your tangents.

Another thought is that there are the Steve Alfords and the Tony Bennetts of the world who are not naturally athletic but work their butts of and find a niche. Those two could shoot the heck out of the ball.

However, Steve Alford even says that he found a niche on the golf course after he made it and that's why he only lasted 4 years in the NBA.

6'3" and 17 - you probably have a lot of growing to do yet... but now its about abilities... skills. Once you get the all clear to really work out, then you have to work on your skills.

It seems like you have given yourself a lot of latitude as far as what level you would like to play at... so thats good.

Just keep at it, work hard and things can work out.

Hey coach , i started shooting today from the perimeter(Been only doing dribbling and form shooting) anyways it looks like i'll be going to a prep school at the end of this year In north carolina so they will be probably mid way through the season so i got 5 months to gain exposure . after sitting our for what felt like the longest 3 weeks of my life im so hungry to start going full pace again but i have to not rush into it . I started my final year today and i really need some help with balancing studies and ball . Im practicing from 6am to 8am and then ill study from 4pm to 6.00 - 7.00 depending on what i have and by that time their is no more courts available to shoot around on so all i can do is dribbling and strength work in the after noon . So im getting up around 300 - 400 jumpers in the morning do you think thats enough ?? I also finish early on wedensdays and fridays so ive got extra time to put up some shots .

tHANKS ALOT

Remember your priorities -

Academics FIRST and foremost
Family
Faith
Basketball

IF you have to - sit down and list everything so you can find time to do the things you need to do FIRST and then the things you WANT to do next. Remember to give yourself some down time just to be a kid and have fun.

It seems like you are getting in a lot of shots... is there someone you can work out with... feeding each other so you can shoot at game speed? You will get more shots in and more quality ones too.

Keep up the good work.

okay coach thanks but its still tough i dont know how those nba players got in so much practice time . Right now i train from 6-8 am and then finish school at 3.30pm get home a 4.pm relax until 4.30 and depending on what i have e.g. Test or lots of homework i might take im to 7.00 to finish leaving me only 2 hrs to ball with limited resources . The closest thing available is a outdoor court but it would be too dark But i guess i just gotta do it huh . I skipped my morning session today because i only got 5 hrs sleep , ill be fine to train but during school i will fall asleep lol . I just have to find a way now because thats what i want to do in life and nothings going to stop me.
hit me back

Those are NBA players - professionals... that't their jobs.... guess what your job is right now? S C H O O L

Make sure you take care of your business first... let me run this by you- What IF you are good enough to make it to a D! program --- 3 weeks into your first season you blow your knee out ... and you are done. Then what do you do? Plan B - which really should have been Plan A to begin with.

OK, so take care of school first and use the rest of your free time wisely. Get in as much practice time / shooting and ball handling as you can. Do the best you can, no one can do any more. Then let the chips fall where they may.
