some people, like Coach A and sars300 who know my situation, would know that I play outside me 14's school team with adults. However, their D is amazing. Whenever you aren't looking... bam!!! they're on you and you find yourself just standing there. Any tips?

Hard work, practice and patience young man.

Older players are usually stronger and quicker and have a lot more experience than you do. You need to be more alert... don't turn your back on the DEFENSE.... Keep your head up and stay out of trap situations - the corners- Keep the ball moving.

They are probably trying to take advantage of your youth and inexperience..... so, like I said - stay alert.

sorry about your name... but I find that when I do move the ball around, it gives them more of a chance to actually steal that. I constantly try to keep my head up, but that's when they steal it, because I'm not watching the ball...

I'm not actually trying to oppose you, but that's the situation...

You just have to learn to be stronger with the ball.... and you really do have to keep your head up... and try to stay away from situations where they can double team you... keep the ball moving ... good luck Glanden

Avoid dribbling to much and move the ball (call for help if needed), once your in offensive position swing the ball and get yourself open, no matter how fast they are they cant beat a (proper) pass. If you move the ball properly you should eventually get an opening where you can shoot or drive the ball. Of course like the coaches here stated, it's key to stay alert never turn your back on the defense causing them to trap you.

At this stage since your ball handling probably dosent equal their speed you should cut and try and get open for a shot. Once your handles are at 100% you can jab step, shot fake or studder step and explode to the basket. Getting in front of them is key to beating them, don't be afraid to take it to the hole, if they are behind you all they can do is foul you which at worse is 2 foul shots and if you get double teamed then you now have the option to pass to an open man.

One additional key to beating your defense is to get just as good with your opposite hand, most experienced players will seek to exploit your weakness by standing in a position forcing you to dribble with your weaker hand, if you have no weak hand then you now have the advantage. This is similar to boxing but that's a whole other post somewhere else :)

Some great points here... and remember this.... playing with older and better players will only make you better... you will be forced to work harder and get better - or they will eat you up.

Be patient... your day will come.
