Guys, need some advice on defending the post. My team of grade 8-9 players is very small, typically the teams we play have 3-4+ players taller than our biggest guy, so we may have a 5' kid on another kid 5'-7" or bigger. When the ball gets inside, we have a lot of trouble on the boards, so we try to pressure the ball on the perimeter and keep it outside. Most of what I've ready about youth ball and defending the post is to play full front down-low and 3/4 front up high. With the full front it makes it even harder to get blockout position. Is this the right thing to go when there is a signifcant height disadvantage? Thanks for your time.

Thats how we covered it with our high school team ... full front and A LOT of pressure on the ball so they cant lob it.... then you have to get great rotation and back side help.... back side defender comes over for help... guard or wing at the top rotates down..... and we also taught to spin off the man to get around him...for better rebounding position. This is kind of like pick your poison.... who is going to hurt you more, take that away and let their least player try to beat you.
