My kids have been on basketball, baseball, football and hockey teams. More than a few times we were undecided whether we should travel to the court, field or rink since the weather was iffy. I'm wondering how you coaches for all ages communicates with your team. No matter what age, no matter what level. I'd like to suggest some options to our coaches.

I've used TeamSnap and that works really well when playing in multiple leagues at once. They also have an option for parents to receive text messages on notifications (e.g. practice cancelled, game moved).

Honestly though, the simplest and most effective is just having the coaches create a group text and sending out messages that way. Depends upon what the team agrees upon, but a reminder can be sent on game day, practice day and any changes that come up.

The key is to pick a form of communication, let the parents know this is how information will be relayed and stick to it. In other words, communicating once via e-mail, another time through text, another time through twitter won't work.

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much the response and help. We ended up trying out a system called DialMyCalls. So far so good, working great. We can send calls and text messages out to everyone at the same time and pretty quickly too.
If you have any questions about it, I'd be happy to share.

We've only had DialMyCalls' service for a short time. Already used it for rain cancellations and event reminders. Its great and everyone seems to like the service too. Win...Win...
