Improve Passing and Decision Making Against Zone Pressure With This Overload Drill

Summary

The zone press overload drill is designed to condition your players to make quick decisions with the ball. It uses an unbalanced number of players to get everybody to participate in this drill. The offense's goal is to cross half-court within 10 seconds.

Instructions

For a 12 man roster, make it a 5 on 7 drill. The defense lines up in a 1/3/1/2 press alignment.

The offense should line up in a 1/3/1 alignment to combat the overload press.

4 inbounds the ball to 2.

2 quickly passes the ball to 1.

If 1 is not open, 2 passes it to 3 in the middle.
