Free Warm Up Resources Videos... And Don't Call It A Warm Up!

When it comes to warm ups, I don't even like to use the word warm up. It diminishes the importance for players and coaches who don't have a background in physical education.

Instead, I like to call it Movement Preparation and Athletic Development.

In addition to warming up and preventing injuries, these exercises should be improving your athleticism. This includes balance, strength, power, speed, coordination, and more.

In the past, we've had articles that have discussed some common issues with basketball warm ups.

If you're interested in learning more about developing better athletes that are injury resistant, below are some free resources for you to check out.

The first free resource is from Canada Sport For Life. This is an interactive PDF where you click on the drill and a video will pop up. It has three different levels.

You can do this in the hallway or some other space ahead of time. That way, you maximize your time on the court with basketball related activities.

Here is a free video that is geared towards warming up for basketball. The presenter Dr. Dean Kriellaars was a contributor to developing the PDF and videos above.

Here is another video where Brian McCormick shows you how to incorporate movement skills and games into your practice.
