Lead Instructor - Tristan Thompson


Coach Thompson is a native of Spicer, Minnesota, and a graduate of New London–Spicer High School, where he was a three-sport athlete in cross country, basketball, and track & field. He went on to attend the University of Northwestern–St. Paul, where he aspired to play college basketball but ultimately competed in both cross country and track & field.

Thompson currently serves as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Division II Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minnesota. Prior to joining BSU, he spent two seasons (2023–2025) as a graduate assistant at Division III North Central University in Minneapolis and one season (2022–2023) as an assistant at NAIA Presentation College in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Thompson completed his master’s degree in Strategic Leadership and Business Administration from North Central University in December 2025. During his tenure with the Rams, the program achieved back-to-back UMAC Tournament appearances, earned a Co-Regular Season Championship in 2025, and advanced to back-to-back NCCAA Division II National Championship games—highlighted by a title game win in 2025.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Thompson has coached three seasons of grassroots AAU basketball and one winter of middle school basketball in Minnesota.
