Lead Instructor - Hayley Schaetzle

Hayley Schaetzle most recently served three seasons as head coach at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. Schaetzle took over the program in 2017 and in 2019-20 led Pitt-Greensburg to its first winning season in five years earning the fourth seed in the AMCC postseason tournament. As a result, Schaetzle was voted the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year.
Schaetzle guided the Bobcats to success both on and off the court. The program earned the AMCC's Team Peak Performer Award in both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons, which signifies the highest cumulative team GPA. The team was also named to the 2017-18 Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. The Bobcats posted the 19th best GPA in the country and were the sole AMCC representative to earn the award.
Prior to Pitt-Greensburg, Schaetzle served two seasons as Director of Basketball Operations for Coach Felisha Legette-Jack's program at the University at Buffalo. In Schaetzle's first season with the UB Bulls, the women's basketball team defeated Central Michigan to capture the school's first MAC Conference Championship and advanced to the 2016 NCAA Division 1 Tournament for the first time in program history.
Prior to her time in Buffalo, Schaetzle spent two seasons as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Penn State Behrend, a member of the AMCC. While there, Schaetzle coached the Lions' guards, scouted opponents, and helped to recruit players—all while working under Roz Fornari, the winningest coach in Penn State Behrend history.
Schaetzle played collegiately at Manchester University (formerly Manchester College) in Indiana where she was a varsity letter-winner as a freshman point-guard prior to a career ending injury.
A native of Chico, CA, Schaetzle graduated magna cum laude from Manchester University with a Bachelor's in Exercise Science and Fitness, and minors in Coaching and Spanish. She earned her Master's degree in Business Administration from Penn State. Schaetzle currently lives in Yuma, AZ with her husband Thurman Schaetzle, Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Yuma Catholic High School—and their two sons, Callum (4) and Louie (1).
