Coach Dwon Kelly is a dynamic and accomplished basketball coach with over 15 years of experience in player development, athletic leadership, and mentorship across high school, AAU, semi-professional, and professional levels. A native of Maywood, Illinois, Coach Kelly is dedicated to inspiring the next generation of athletes to reach their full potential both on and off the court. He believes “Basketball is more than a game—it’s a platform to teach discipline, integrity, and perseverance. My goal is to develop well-rounded athletes who compete with heart, lead with purpose, and give back with gratitude.”

Coach Kelly has demonstrated an exceptional ability to cultivate high-performing teams while prioritizing the holistic development of each player. As the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Proviso West High School, he guided one of Illinois’ most competitive programs, emphasizing discipline, teamwork, and academic achievement—while maintaining a program-wide GPA of 3.2. Under his leadership, several athletes advanced to NCAA Division I programs, and his influence extended well beyond basketball through mentoring and community engagement.

Coach Kelly He focuses on teaching core fundamentals such as passing, shooting, and ball handling, while incorporating innovative drills and performance-based training methods. His camps emphasize basketball IQ, mental toughness, and injury prevention through proper warm-ups, conditioning, and movement mechanics — helping young players elevate their performance and confidence.

Coach Kelly is also the founder and director of Kelly Athletics, where he trains athletes in strength, conditioning, and on-court skill development. Through this platform, he has taught and mentored athletes ranging from youth to professional, including NBA-caliber players such as Jevon Carter, Corey Maggette, Steve Hunter, and Shannon Brown. His training programs are customized to maximize performance, enhance basketball fundamentals, and instill discipline and leadership in every athlete he works with.

Coach Kelly’s coaching style blends technical expertise, motivational leadership, and character development. He believes in teaching life lessons through basketball—emphasizing accountability, teamwork, respect, and perseverance. Coach Kelly continues to bring energy, professionalism, and a growth-minded approach to the game. His mission is to help young athletes develop not only as competitors but also as scholars, leaders, and role models in their communities.
