- Received a scholarship in 1996 after two years of proving himself in practice and limited playing time.
- Started 33 games for the Hawkeyes during the 1996–1998 seasons.
- Helped lead Iowa to the NCAA Tournament, becoming a key contributor and a fan favorite.
Professional Basketball Career
- Played one season of professional basketball in Poland after graduating from Iowa.
Post-Basketball Career
- Built a successful 16-year career in pharmaceutical sales while raising a family.
- In 2014, founded Court45, a coaching facility in North Liberty, Iowa, to mentor and train young athletes.
- Dedicated to teaching life lessons through basketball, emphasizing hard work, resilience, and the importance of community support.
- Continues to inspire young athletes by sharing his story of perseverance and overcoming the odds.
Darryl’s journey from a walk-on to a starter at a Big Ten school, and eventually to a mentor for the next generation, exemplifies his belief: “If you move in the right direction, good things will happen.”
