These are “mental reps.” The more reps you get, the faster the game becomes when you’re actually playing.

(A couple years ago, I went to sub a player into a game. I had to call his name three times to get his attention. That signaled to me that he was not mentally ready to play. The result? I left him on the bench and subbed in someone else.)
