Vegas Closeout with Help
Ages: All Ages Youth Middle School High School+
Purpose of the Drill:
The purpose of this drill is to teach the player how to closeout on the man with the basketball, jump to denial position when the ball is passed to the middle, provide help on the dribble, and recover back to their man.
Instructions

- The defensive player starts with the ball on the block, passes the ball to the offensive player, and closes out on him.
- The offensive player should jab at the defensive player a couple of times to make sure that the defensive player can absorb the jabs.

- Offensive player 1 passes the ball to offensive player 2.
- The defensive player should immediately jump to their denial position, on the line up the line.

- Player 2 attacks the lane on the right side forcing the defensive player to help.

- Player 2 should kick the ball out to 1 and the defensive player now needs to recover and defend the ball live.
Points of Emphasis:
- Sprint to closeout.
- Closeout with choppy steps, balanced, and under control.
- Absorb the jab steps of the offensive player.
- Jump to denial position when the ball is passed.
- Provide help on the ball by opening up and sliding over.
- Recover quickly by sprinting back to your man and defending a live ball.
