Escape 4 on 4 Full Court
Ages: All Ages Youth Middle School High School+
Purpose of the Drill:
To teach offensive players to run the floor and keep proper spacing, while taking advantage of numbers. Offensive keys of the drill include: staying away from each other, attacking a defense that is trying to zone-up since they are outnumbered, and moving the ball to a teammate faster than the defense can catch up. Ultimate goal is to get a good shot.
Instructions

- Line four offensive players spread along the baseline and oppose them with 4 defenders stationed along the free throw line extended.
- A coach passes the ball to one offensive player and the offense moves quickly up the floor.
- The defender in front of the ball must sprint to the baseline, touch it and try to catch up.
- The four offensive players should stay spread, move the ball as rapidly as possible, and keep track of the trailing defender.
- The offensive should attack the defense, trying to get the best shot they can before the defense catches up.
Points of Emphasis:
- Offense has to be quick and aware, knowing exactly what the three defenders in front of them are doing.
- Offense needs to pass the ball to advance up the floor, while keeping good spacing.
- Finally, offense needs to know when they are close enough to attack the defense and aggressively go to the basket. They do not have time to dribble around while they look for an opening. Passing the ball quickly to open spots is critical in this drill.
