Agility Reaction Drill
Ages: Youth Middle School High School+
Purpose of the Drill:
Improve quickness, balance, footwork, defense and speed.
Instructions

- As seen on the right side, the players will start behind half court.
- On a whistle they will sprint to the first cone and stop under control with a straight back and ready to close out.
- The players will then slide to the right (to the next cone or sideline) and back to their original cone as fast as possible.
- When getting back to the cone, the players will shuffle their feet and use one foot to push from behind towards the next cone.
- The players will repeat this 4 times until they finish the last cone.
- The players will then sprint to the baseline in front of their line of cones, touch it, and back track all the way to halfcourt.
Points of Emphasis:
- Keep your back straight - otherwise you fall forward.
- bend knees and stay low.
- make a quick shuffle step to change from a sideward movement to a forward movement by pushing off your back foot.
Motivation/Teaching Tips:
- Run 4-5 players at a time and make it a competition.
- Give them a time frame of no more than 20 seconds.
