What's the general rule on M2M matchups if the other team has a good dribbler (PG) and another decent dribbler at SG?
Do I want my PG (who is probably one of our best defenders) on their PG?
While it didn't wear her out, she did pick up 4 fouls (don't get me started on the refs either! LOL).

Thanks for any advice.

Its easy to match up your point guard vs theirs... but there are times when our best scorers are our point guards... so, do we want to wear them out defending their best player? Especially IF they are foul prone? I would use my next best defender to defend the point and IF need be, switch them during the game from time to time to keep them fresh.

What was it that Al McGuire ( coach at Marqutte years ago) " Cut off the head and the body dies. " Meaning, take the point guard away from the other team - they will have a hard time initiating their offense. So, we worked hard to make their point guards life miserable on the floor.... BUT, IF, their shooting guard is their best scorer, we would put our best defender on him.

Here is something else to think about... doesn't every coach tell his players to RUN THE OFFENSE? Unless that player was going to just try and control the game himself without getting into the offense first... we would allow him to get the first pass and let him run the offense... and then work to shut him down.
IF you get a chance to scout a player you will know what his tendencies are and how you want to play him.... it might be just the opposite, DON'T let him get the ball...... LET him/her have the ball and double team her until she gives it up and then play lock down defense on them without giving any help.... it all depends upon how good they are.
