I've a question regarding weakside rebounding. My players are working hard, but when we are in defensive situation and we need to give helpside, we are always too late. Especially with help from the weakside with defensive rebounding. Do you have some drills that can help me improve my weakside rebounders? I hope you can help me with that. Many thanks in advance!

Its all about the rotation of your defense..... and ANTICIPATION. I have seen many teams do a good job of helping out by rotating over to help with a strong post player... only to see their top defender get there late for weakside rebounding. Defenders must move when the ball leaves the shooter / passers hands ... not after the ball is caught or shot.

A simple 4 man shell drill can accomplish this - and in every practice situation you must encourage / remind / demand your players to do this. We called this FINISHING on DEFENSE. What good does it do to force a bad shot only to give the opposition 2nd - 3rd opportunities?

Want to make it really hard.... 4 on 5 shell, the 5th offensive player is the POST player.

Coach Sar is right on. In addition, teaching players to "move on the pass, not the catch" will help with anticipation. Here's an article that explains what I mean:
