I'm Hilde from Belgium...after my illness I'm starting to coach again next season. My team will be girls, age 15-17 but they\'re really small and I don\'t have any tall girl.I was thinking about pushing the defense and hoping that will result in many fast breaks.Do you guys have any great offense for a team with no "big" girl? Thanks and I love the website!Greetings from Belgium

Hi Hilde,

Welcome back to the greatest profession in the world.... coaching basketball and working with young people... glad to see that you are back on your feet.

As for your team.... Defensively, IF you are quick or at least quicker than your opponents... pressing and trying to created turnovers that result in easy baskets is a good philosophy. Some of my teams were similar to yours right now, only we didn't have a lot of quicks, some yes, but not a lot.
We put pressure on the other team to disrupt the flow of their game and all out pressed at different times. That worked for us, look at your personnel and ask yourself what can we do that will be successful defensively.

As for your offense (again we were in the same boat) we went to an open post offense because we didn't have a true post player either...... I would suggest running an open post offense, spread your team out and weaken the other teams defensive help, then take them to the basket or create some easy shots.

Think about your strengths and weaknesses, devise a game plan that will utilize your strenghts. Maybe you can get back to us on that and we can help.

Good luck.
