If your team faces big noisy crowds, then we have something that might help you out...

The problem coaches face, is that no matter how hard they try, they can't simulate and prepare their players for exactly what happens in an actual game.

Shooting free throws and setting up last minute plays in practice is nothing like an actual game (especially in the playoffs or a tight game with really noisy fans).

We certainly don't have all the answers to perfectly simulate game situations. But we did find an interesting solution that might help you out.

It's "crowd noise simulator" that when used properly, we think can help you better prepare your players for games. It's an inexpensive piece of software that simulates crowd noise in your practices. You just plug your laptop into your gym sound system and choose the appropriate situation that you want to simulate.

It's simple, inexpensive, and an interesting product. So we thought we would share it with you, just in case you think something like this would be helpful.

A few ways you could use the software include...

• Crank up the volume and crowd noise while players shoot pressure free throws during practice.
  
  
• Crank up the volume when you run your end of game plays and "situations" at the end of practice. Put 2 minutes up on the clock, crank up the volume, turn up the intensity, and see if your players can still communicate with all the noise.

We tried the software on our computer and it seemed to work pretty good. You can pick several different situations including made shots, missed shots, steals, opponent noise, and so on. We didn't personally try the software on a gym sound system, but their website has testimonials from other coaches and we don't see why it wouldn't work.

TIP: For a really good way to simulate end of game situations, use our end of game drill in conjunction with the crowd noise software. You won't find many teams that prepare like that. Not to mention it's a lot of fun for the players.
