Loyola Chicago Opening Set
A popular concept for a basketball play is an "exit screen." It is especially popular when combined with a ball screen. In this case, watch how Loyola Chicago uses this action within their opening set to get a great seal opportunity for their post player right in front of the rim for an easy bucket to open the game.

This action starts with a cleared out wing ball screen. Two players in the lane area on the opposite side and one guard in the opposite corner.

The big in the lane area comes up to set a back screen on the other big who just set a ball screen. This is a fluff action to create confusion between the defenders in the lane.

The big immediately sets an "exit screen" for the player on the opposite block. An exit screen is a popular screen used with ball screens. It is for the player to "exit" to the ball side corner. At the same time the ball is entered to the big at the elbow pinch post area.

The exit screen is used to free a shooter in the corner. This is an option on this action but Loyola-Chicago implements this to get a seal opportunity for their post player right in front of the rim for an easy basket.
