Triple Threat Attack
Ages: All Ages Youth Middle School High School+
Purpose of the Drill:
Teach players to properly attack from triple threat position - using shot, sweep, and step through. Improves footwork.
Instructions

- Players form two lines -- a defensive line (player with the ball) and an offensive line.
- Player 1 rolls the ball so Player 2 can run and pick it up around the elbow area or further out (depending on the distance you want to practice from the basket).

- Player 2 picks up the ball and either executes a front, inside, or drop step pivot (what ever you want them to work on).
- Player 1 runs at player two, performs a good close out, and gets in good defense position (low, wide feet, hands up or out).

- Player 2 executes the counter appropriately and attacks the basket (shot, sweep, step through, or reserve-pivot-sweep).
- It's very important for player 2 to execute all the details properly -- think shot (take the shot if open), long step, close to defender as possible, straight line to basket, shoulder should be lower than defenders,
- It's also important for the defense to get in a good defensive stance so the offense has a realistic situation and develops good habits of getting low, etc.
- Once the move is complete, the two players get to the end of the line (getting in a different line so they can both player offense and defense). Then the next group starts and repeats the process.
