Sideline Out of Bounds
Ages: Youth Middle School High School+
Summary:
This sideline out of bounds play should be used against man to man defense when your team is inbounding the ball in their own front court.
Personnel:
Player 1 should be your quickest player/best player able to slash hard to the basket and finish the layup. Player 4 should be your best post passer.
Instructions

- Player 1 inbounds the ball on the sideline. Post players 4 and 5 line up at the elbows. Player 2 faces Player 1 at an angle. Player 3 is the safety.

- Player 5 sets a screen for Player 4, who comes off the screen towards the top of the key, looking for a pass from Player 1.

- Player 1 passes the ball to Player 4, then sprints towards the basket, using Player 2 as a screen to rub off his or her man.

- Player 4 passes to Player 1 sprinting to the basket for the layup. Player 2 trails Player 1, and Player 5 moves into position for a weakside rebound.
Additional Comments:
When running this play with younger players who may not be proficient with left-handed layups, you may choose to put a left-handed player as Player 1 on an inbounds play on the left side of the court and a right-handed Player 1 on the right side of the court.
