Cone/MB Pickup Drill

Purpose of the Drill:

The purpose of this drill is to have the player work on staying at a constant, low level while handling the basketall and making dribble moves.

Instructions

  • Player 1 dribbles to the cone/Med Ball and picks it up.
  • Player 1 continues to the 3 point line with the cone/mb in opposite hand from the ball and puts it down.
  • Player 1 continues to the 3 point line with the cone/mb in opposite hand from the ball and puts it down.

Points of Emphasis:

  • Stay low throughout the drill. This is the purpose of picking up and putting down the cone.
  • Add a move before picking up the cone for advanced players.
  • Finish high at the rim with a variety of finishing moves.
  • Incorporate attacking at all angles, wings, top, corners.

Motivation/Teaching Tips:

  • Complete as many makes as possible in a specific time.
