Two Ball Fake Handoff Drill
Ages: All Ages Youth Middle School High School+
Purpose of the Drill:
The purpose of this drill is for two players to work together to learn how to attack the basket after having faked a hand off as well as out of the triple threat.
Instructions

- Player 1 dribbles both basketballs to the chair.

- Player 1 puts one of the basketballs on the chair, he then back dribbles and changes directions to re-attack toward the wing where player 2 is cutting from.
- Player 2 cuts toward player 1 who is coming at him.
- Player 1 fakes the hand off and continues to the wing.
- Once at the wing, player 1 uses a change of direction move to attack the defender and finish at the rim.
- Player 2 continues his cut toward the original chair, picks up the basketball and shoots a jumper.
- Then switch positions and repeat.
Points of Emphasis:
- Dribble the basketball hard, low, and aggressively.
- Push off your front leg on your back dribble to create separation between you and the defender.
- Stay low on the back dribble and protect the basketball by being on a 45 degree angle and having your guard arm up.
- Re-attack the wing at game speed.
- Make your change of direction moves low and quick.
- Keep your shoulder at around the height of the top of the chair while maintaining your balance as you go by.
- Finish high and aggressively at the rim.
- Vary your finishing moves (one foot, two feet, reverse, jump stop with a shot fake, etc)
- Player 2 should cut hard, pick up the ball low and hop or step into their shot.
- Shoot off the catch or off 1-2 bounces.
Motivation/Teaching Tips:
- Go until a certain number of shots have been made between the two players.
- Go for a designated period of time.
- see which player make a designated number of shots first.
