Box Agility Drill

Purpose of the Drill:

To test the player's ability to change directions as well as movements over short distances.

Instructions

  • The player will start just outside the elbow and sprint to the block.
  • Then slide across the lane.
  • Then backpedal to the opposite elbow.
  • Then slide back across to the original starting spot.
  • At this point the player does not stop, but rather reverses the drill in the opposite direction. (There should be no pause).
  • He slides back across the foul line, sprints to the block, slides across the lane and backpedal through the finish.

Points of Emphasis:

  • Stay low throughout the drill.
  • Plant on your outside foot in order to change directions more efficiently.
  • Do not pause at each turn, explode into the next movement.

Motivation/Teaching Tips:

  • The drill will be timed.
