Double Ball Screen Play With Multiple Scoring Options Out of the A-Set

Here is a great double ball screen play out of the A-Set. It gives you an option to attack the hoop off of the dribble, a post option, and two options for an outside shot.

The play starts in an A-set. 1 dribbles down the baseline and takes his defender below 4.

4 and 5 set a double staggered ball screen for 1.

1 looks to score off of the screens.

After 4 sets the ball screen, 4 screens for 2 in the corner. 2 cuts off of the screen.

After 5 sets the screen, 5 rolls to the basket.

If 1's initial double ball screen is not open, here are 4 other options in no particular order.

Option 1 - If 5's defender stays with 1, 5 rolls to the basket.

Option 2 - If 3's defender sinks in to help with 5, 3 is open in the corner.

Option 3 - Pass to 2 coming off of 4's screen.

Option 4 - If 4's defender helps on the screen for 2, pass to 4 opening up to the basketball.

As you can probably see, if you have a point guard or player with good decision-making ability, this can be a very efficient play.

Another good job guys, as I coach I love stuff out of the A-Set and this is something that I have run in the past.

Only ever run the first 3 options though as the players I coach are only U16.

Aside that we get good looks off the initial roll and now that some of my guys are developing into good shooters it has gave us the options with the catch and shoot in the corner or the shooter coming off the screen.

use a similar play where 4, 5 X cut after screening for 1 coming off. Found that #5 is wide open

I taught this last night to my G8 Club Team.

We will use it for end of quarter / halfs / timeouts to change up from our primary offenses.

It even resembles our 5 Out Motion start so the double screens will really catch them off gaurd.
