Here’s a passing drill we have been using with my daughter’s 3rd grade team. I also plan to use it with my high school team as a passing and conditioning drill. It’s called Pass and Switch.
For our 3rd graders, it’s their new favorite drill and they have been asking if they can run this drill during practice.
We see quite a few smiles during this drill. Not to mention it significantly improves their passing skills.

We usually start fairly close together with bounce passes for 1-2 minutes. Then move farther a part and make chest passes for 1-2 minutes. Then move farther apart and make overhead passes for 1-2 minutes.
In the last practice we had an odd number of players so I participated (and got a workout while I was at it). We decided to keep track of dropped passes and do one push up for every dropped pass.
Yes, I did the push ups with our team. 🙂 It’s all in good fun and the push ups just provide a little challenge for them to make good passes.
Sometimes we also challenge the players and see how many successful passes they can make in one minute. Pass and Switch is a fun drill that is excellent for improving passing skills and conditioning.
Amy idea if anyone has ever made a video of this? The 2 balls just go in a rectangle basically, right? It’s just the players moving across the middle?
I did see a video of it but I don’t remember where and the coach used a different name. And yes and yes to your questions. It sounds like u understand it. It’s really simple and u won’t need a video. Give it a try.
